Leeds Met student Lauren Coles reflects on her week with Turn Key PR…
I had originally planned to do a degree in English Literature and admittedly had little idea what career path I wanted to follow. Leeds Met open day, however, completely turned this around. After being introduced to the exciting and dynamic world of PR, I was inspired and knew then that Public Relations was the road I wanted to go down. The concept of doing a degree in something I had never done before was so refreshing and the creativity and diversity of PR drew me in straight away.
I was first introduced to Turn Key PR through Claireâs CIPR guest lecture. I found the agencyâs PR work inspiring and was amazed at the large and diverse range of clients. The emphasis Claire placed on the importance of communication and creativity as well her enthusiasm to face any challenge showed me what an interesting and vibrant group of people Turn Key are â and I was not wrong! The atmosphere is buzzing in the offices and everyone has so much passion for what they do which is so influential.
Just a few days of work experience at Turn Key have taught me more about the world of PR than I could ever learn sitting in a lecture. Firstly, the vast amount of hard work that goes into every project – the team are always nonstop at Turn Key towers! Also the diversity of working at an integrated agency is really appealing to me because the range of clients is so varied and there is always something new and interesting going on. Finally, I now aspire to go on to work for an agency in the future and canât wait to get stuck into my PR career.
I really couldnât have asked for a better introduction into the PR world. So thank you Turn Key! I hope to see you again soon.
