We’ve been biting our fingernails all week as The Drum’s Design 100 list has slowly been revealed day by day! Listing the UK’s top 100 design agencies, these rankings are compiled annually and we’re delighted to have found ourselves at number 58!

We couldn’t be prouder of this achievement which puts Turn Key well and truly on the map. We’re already excited for what next year has in store, so hold onto your hats because we’re going to be climbing the list!

When flicking through the UK Porsche website , we were delighted to spot our very own Turn Key logo in the driving seat. If you look closely enough it’s not that hard to see – even if it did take us a while to find!  We already think our logo is great, but it looks even better on a Porsche Carrera 911 don’t you agree?!

You may remember a few weeks ago we commented on Pinterest – the shiny, new social media tool taking the World Wide Web by storm – and if you need any more reason to believe it’s the next big thing, take a look at the stats below from  FlowTown sniffed out by our Senior Web Developer Christian Shannon …

Obviously it’s important to practice what we preach so watch this space…Turn Key’s Pin Board is just a few clicks away!

TK vs. Food

This Friday, the Turn Key team will be wearing looser clothes than usual as they take on the Carpe Diem burger challenge.

The either very brave, or very foolish, 12 TK staff members think they’re made of stronger stuff and will go where no man or woman have gone before. Their mission – to polish off their plates. The feast will consist of 4 burgers, 4 rashers of bacon, 6 onion rings, lettuce, tomato, relish and cheese…in a giant garlic and herb focaccia bun…Oh and a large bowl of fries…and a drink…oh and did we mention the time limit? All that in 25 minutes. Let the battle commence!

If completed, the £17 meal is complimentary – so the team better be hungry!

Open wide TK…. this great inspiration was found by our very own Creative Director Richard Colvill!

Marketing’s green-fingered Tess Eaton looks forward to seeing the fruits of our labour at the Turn Key allotment…

Turn Key is setting out to become much more green fingered in 2012. With our brand-new Wellington Place allotment just around the corner from our office, we are willing the weather to warm up quickly so that we can get planting and growing – we aim to impress!

Freshly dug, with a few daffodils popping up and garlic bulbs going strong, we have got our green thinking caps on to decide which vegetables we like the best! Should we plant carrots or flowers? Sprouts or herbs? So many veg… so little space!

Keep checking back  to see how we’re getting on during the Spring. I wonder what our first Turn Key meal will be?!

Porsche Denied

See our Creative Director Richard Colvill’s latest shoot for the Porsche Post – the official Porsche magazine. The actual shot has been denied access on the back page of the mag as being too racy. Good thing we pre-emted that and did a few other ideas at the same time.

See the denied shot and behind the scenes below…

Designer Sean Simmonds loves… the More 4 rebrand

You’ve got to admire the detail and creativeness that’s gone into the More 4 rebrand by ManvsMachine.

When you watch the ‘making of’ for the idents, it’s fascinating to see the process they have gone through and the amount of time and effort it has taken.

In our opinion, it’s one of the best channel rebrands out there!

Junior Designer Carl Holderness loves…a brand new mixing app from Jonas Eriksson

Vintage meets technology in this brilliant new mixing app from designer Jonas Eriksson . The simple typography combined with some beautifully put together visualizers makes an acoustically appealing app for any lover of things old and new!

I was flattered to be asked to help judge the 2012 Insider Yorkshire Digital & Technology Awards recently and it’s a job I have taken on with joy. The wealth of quality, digital work within the region seems to improve year on year – as bigger and better companies and brands are choosing to move their online marketing budgets out of London and into the arms of a warm, Yorkshire agency embrace.

It’s no surprise really. Creativity doesn’t have a specific address within the M25 circle and, in fact, the region has become established as one of the largest digital and technology hubs in the country. From the better known agencies, that genuinely give their ‘big smoke’ competitors a run for their money in the client wars, to the smaller shops coming up with increasingly intelligent ways of using digital to put their clients on the map, it has been a pleasure to see the quality of the work being produced by Yorkshire businesses.

Working in an agency it’s far too easy to be critical of our competitor’s work when I genuinely believe celebrating what the region has to offer will have positive effects for all of us. And some of it is rather good to boot! So, in celebration of all things digital, and all things Yorkshire, I hope to see you at the awards ceremony on the 28th March. Let Loose!

Senior Designer Phill Smith loves… this amazing animation

We love this. A perfect example of when designers are let loose!

The only brief was to end on the company logo. Brilliant brief.

The pink jelly/digital characters are well designed and bring humour to what is a very slick and contemporary ident. They capture the motion perfectly as each poor guy is piped around well rendered clear tubes.
